Title : A Long Impatience - Gaëlle Josse - Book
Summary :
This is the story of a son who leaves and a mother who waits. It is a couple who hurt each other and who love each other. It is in Brittany, around the sixties, and could it be elsewhere, everywhere where women wait for those who leave, everywhere where mothers worry?: A woman loses her husband, a fisherman at sea, and remarries the rich pharmacist of the village. Her son, from his first union, has difficulty integrating into this new family and also ends up going to sea. Then begins for the narrator a long wait that she will try, as best she can, to fill by imagining the great banquet that she will prepare for her son, upon his return.
Having come to writing through poetry, Gaëlle Josse has published three novels with Autrement. Une longue impatience is her third novel with Notabilia, after The Last Guardian of Ellis Island , which was a resounding success in September 2014 and won numerous awards, including the European Union Prize for Literature, the Prix de l'Académie littéraire de Breton, and the Prix de la Académie littéraire de Breton.
