Sénès la Since was born in 1827 in Solliès-Pont and ended his life peacefully in Toulon in 1907. He loved his Provence too much to leave it. He went through life, happy with the happiness of others. All his sympathy was directed towards the weak and the disinherited.
He excelled in painting family life, childhood with its naive reflections, mothers with their sudden and quickly appeased anger.
Modest, he did not seek fame. He wrote only in the Provençal language, as an ironic and benevolent philosopher. He devoted his finest pages to the qualities of self-denial and generosity of Provençal women.
