Murdered during Christmas 1954, wealthy philanthropist Rachel Argyle was allegedly murdered, according to the courts, by her adopted son, Jacko. After his death from pneumonia behind bars, his friend Dr. Arthur Calgary, who should have served as her alibi, returns from a long trip to the other side of the world. Confronted by the family of the supposed murderer, he discovers that none of its members are waiting for him to stir up the past and pull skeletons from the closet. Yet, better than anyone, Calgary knows that one of the Argyles is the killer.
