Title : Wealth of the World, Poverty of Nations - Daniel Cohen - book
Summary :
Almost everything about the fears that attribute the crises experienced by rich countries to "globalization" is false. The transformations underway can indeed be observed in any profession or sector, whether or not they are in contact with the global economy." With this diagnosis, the author invites us to reinterpret the transformations of the contemporary world in the light of a new industrial revolution. It is to this and to the internal mutations of capitalism that we must attribute the responsibility for unemployment and contemporary inequalities, and not to trade with poor countries, offshoring and "unfair competition." It is not globalization that is the cause of the precariousness of the world of work but quite the opposite: our propensity to transform the nature of work provides globalization with the space to lodge itself and the means to develop its perverse effects. A reversal of perspective that requires us to rethink the means of combating crises.
