I went to film in this land of water and sky with changing colors that we call Green Venice. I read the newspapers of the time and looked for paintings by the woman who inspired this story, and whom I named Louise. I visited her house, which I named Les Ombrages. And I tried to retrace through the novel the paths of a destiny that made them decide to take each other by the hand. So that they might live again. And so that we might get to know them. So, perhaps, that we might love them.
