Summary :
After having stolen the Conch of Ramor from Shan-Tung, Bragon, Pélisse and the Mysterious Unknown (a providential rescuer who refuses to remove his mask and reveal his identity) go to the March of the Foam Veils, domain of the witch-Princess Mara. The latter is waiting for them to retrieve the conch and tell them the purpose of their next mission: to go read the runes buried deep in the Temple of Oblivion because they alone reveal the name of the land where the Time Bird is located.
The Temple of Oblivion, the most dangerous place in all of Akbar. No one dares venture there, not even the Jaisirs who guard it. Only a madman would dare to enter with the hope of coming out alive. Adding to Bragon's reluctance is the fact that he will have to endure the presence of Bodias, the sorcerer-prince of the Green Mile March, Mara's former lover, and therefore also Pélisse's potential father, during the journey. The rivalry between the two men will be just one of the countless obstacles that will strewn along the path of the Quest's companions. Bulrog, a former mercenary in the service of Shan-Tung, Bragon's former student, is thirsty for revenge. He and the sorcerer-prince Fjel have joined forces to thwart Mara's plans.
