Title: The Path of Izarra - André-Jean Lafaurie - book
Summary :
In 1944, upon the liberation of Bayonne, Zeta, 18, the daughter of chocolatiers, had her hair shaved in a public square. Manex Irribarne, a collaborator and black marketeer, a last-minute resistance fighter, stirred up the crowd to this end. Then he murdered the young girl's parents to rob them. But Zeta surprised him and made him sign a confession.
A few years later, Manex retrieves these confessions and sets out to ruin Zeta, who has since taken over and expanded the family chocolate factory. Out of fear, she flees with her daughter, Mayalen, and settles in Pamplona under a false name.
Spain is still under Franco's control. While his criminal enterprises flourish on both sides of the border, Manex meets and marries a wealthy industrialist. They have a daughter, Bidane.
Mayalen and Bidane meet in Pamplona and become friends.
