One snowy evening, two newborns are left on the porch of a Burgundian farm and the steps of a church in Abruzzo. Named Maria and Clara, the orphans grow up in their respective adopted lands, among the peasants and simple folk of the mountains. Soon, it is suspected that they are endowed with singular powers.
