Title : Jeanne - Jacqueline de Romilly - Book
Summary :
In 1977, in the year following her mother's death, Jacqueline de Romilly wrote this text and had a few copies printed for her friends. But, out of modesty, because there is something vulgar about revealing one's most intimate secrets, she did not want this book to be published during her lifetime and asked her publisher and friend Bernard de Fallois to do it after her death. Jeanne is the portrait of a woman with multiple gifts, a tireless worker, who for thirty years demonstrated her recognized talent as a writer. Widowed at the start of the 1914 war, she chose to live in her daughter's shadow, thus forging an indissoluble bond between them. This story tells us a lot about Jacqueline de Romilly, and we understand all the more the admiration and affection that her readers, even if they had never met her, felt upon learning of her death.
