Title : How Writers Write - Belinda Cannone - book
Summary :
Since my first steps as a writer, I have wondered how others cope with the ups and downs of the profession – the dizziness of beginning, the slumps, solitude, fear of drying up, failures… So I began to ask my colleagues: “And you, how do you work? How regularly? In what context?” etc. It was a kind of hobby horse. And then, faced with the variety of responses, and also the recurrences, the idea of a book took root in me in which I would explore, with writers close to me, novelists, essayists or poets, our rituals and routines. Fifteen interviews have informed the material for this book, organized thematically. I have not devoted a chapter to each writer: their voices are constantly woven into mine, composing an essay that is both personal and polyphonic. BC *** Belinda Cannone is a novelist and essayist. Her work explores in particular desire and its link with literary creation. She recently published A Little Praise of Embracing (essay, Folio, 2021) and The Vulnerable (short stories, Stock, 2024).
