Alongside the universal images of Doisneau and Boubat, more than half of the five hundred documents in this album are previously unpublished. They come from listeners' "schoolbag memories," from the as-yet uncatalogued archives of several education museums, from the treasures of the Candy Museum, or from a few private collections.
By resurrecting the primary school from 1950 to 1968, Chère école offers us the scent of all schools and all childhoods.
