Title : Trouble on the Basque Coast - Philippe Pourxet - book
Summary : "When I'm overdone, I don't correct anything anymore, I dynamite, I disperse, I ventilate!" Michel Audiard had Bernard Blier, alias Raoul Volfoni, say in Les Tontons Flingueurs. Jean, the hero of Rififi on the Basque Coast, could easily endorse this statement. He's a seemingly quiet young man, an athlete, a surfer, and an ocean enthusiast. But the discovery of his best friend's body, spat out by the waves onto the beach at La Gravière, will trigger a vigilante reaction in him, with little regard for decorum. Like Raoul, Jean will begin to "ventilate" and "disperse" dryly, from Hossegor to the Basque Coast, on the roads, in the dunes, villages and more or less gloomy bistros of Petit Bayonne. His adventures plunge us into a sixties thriller atmosphere, among cops and especially trigger-happy crooks. And with flowery, but very explicit vocabulary.
