The 30 itineraries proposed and described in this book are all colored by the love of an author for a space designated as a true hiking paradise. These routes are not a matter for specialists: it is for each of us here and now, in the evidence of the step followed by another step, in the intimate discovery of a territory - much more than a setting -, in the simple happiness of being there. A veil lifted on the visible, a time that, certainly, can be measured, but which also expands in the satisfaction of an accomplishment at the height of a man or a woman. This volume is set in five of the seven historic provinces of the Basque Country (Labourd, Lower Navarre, Soule, Guiptizcoa and Navarre), with two incursions into the south of the Landes and two others into the neighboring Béarnais. The shortest of these routes (3h30 and 4h00) lead to the Pic d'Orhy or around Navarrenx, to the Adour estuary or in the Jara loop. The longest are called: grand circuit d'Occabé (6h30 and 1300 m of ascent), Artzamendi from the Pas de Roland (6h30 and 1000 m), Haltzamendi from Ossès (6h00) or coastal path from Guéthary to Hendaye (6h00). You will still find significant differences in altitude at the Ehujarré canyon (1200 m), at the Pic de Petrexema (1050 m). All between the Ocean and the dried-up causses of Arbailles or Pierre-Saint-Martin, between the barthes of the Adour and the majestic sunset of San Sebastian.
