• Summary

At Headquarters, the control center inside 11-year-old Riley's head, five Emotions are at work. At their head, Joy, brimming with optimism and good humor, makes sure Riley is happy. Fear takes care of security, Anger ensures justice prevails, and Disgust keeps Riley from having her life ruined—literally and figuratively. As for Sadness, she's not quite sure what her role is. Neither are the others, for that matter... When Riley's family moves to the big city, with all the scary things that entails, the Emotions have their work cut out for them to guide her through the difficult transition. But when Joy and Sadness accidentally get lost in the far corners of Riley's mind, taking some of her most important memories with them, Fear, Anger, and Disgust are forced to step in. Joy and Sadness will have to venture into very unusual places like Long Term Memory, Imagination Land, Abstract Thought, or Dream Production, to try to find their way back to Headquarters so that Riley can get through this and move on with her life...
