This book is based on a lecture given to psychologists, doctors, and social workers. I wanted to make those involved in the education, teaching, and care of children and young people with physical, psychological, emotional, family, or social difficulties aware of the importance of words spoken or unspoken about events that mark a child's life, often without their knowledge.
My aim is to awaken this audience of adults, living in contact with children, to the fact that human beings are above all beings of language. This language expresses their desire to meet another, similar or different to them, and to establish communication with them.
That this desire is unconscious rather than conscious is what I want to make clear. That spoken language is a special case of this desire and that, very often, it distorts the truth of the message, intentionally or not. That the effects of this game of truth masks are always vitalizing for the developing child.
The child needs the truth, and has the right to it.
