Title : Testimony - Nicolas Sarkozy - Book
Summary :
"As far back as I can remember, I've always wanted to take action. Transforming everyday life, making the impossible possible, finding room for maneuver, has always fascinated me.
Politics was not a family tradition. Everything should have kept me away from it: I had neither connections nor fortune, I was not a civil servant, and I had a name that, with its foreign sound, would have convinced more than one person to fade into anonymity.
But politics has this unique and demanding interest in being done with the French people, not against them, nor without them. I like the idea of joint action, toward a common goal, to give hope to millions of people. So many people have given up. Gave up on believing that tomorrow can be more promising. Gave up on a happier future for their children.
I want to explain here that there is no inevitability for those who are willing to dare, to try, to undertake. In a world that is moving at full speed, inaction is the riskiest position for our country and for every French person.
I like to build, to act, to solve problems. I believe that everything is earned and that in the end the effort always pays off. These are my values. This is why I am in politics, this is what justifies, in my eyes, wanting to conquer the highest responsibilities. This is what I am here to tell you.
