During Brezhnev's time, Andrei Filipov was the greatest conductor in the Soviet Union and led the famous Bolshoi Orchestra. But after refusing to part ways with his Jewish musicians, including his best friend Sasha, he was fired at the height of his fame. Thirty years later, he still works at the Bolshoi, but... as a cleaner. One evening, while Andrei stayed very late polishing the master's office, he came across a fax addressed to the director: it was an invitation from the Théâtre du Châtelet inviting the Bolshoi Orchestra to come and play in Paris... Suddenly, Andrei had a crazy idea: why not gather his old musician friends, who now earn a living from odd jobs, and take them to Paris, pretending they were at the Bolshoi?
