Title: Children of the Earth, volume 5 - Stone Shelters - Jean-Marie Auel - book
Summary :
In this fifth installment of the prehistoric saga "Children of the Earth," Ayla gives birth to a long-awaited child and becomes aware of the role she is called to play in the destiny of the Zelandonii, Jondalar's tribe.
After a long, epic journey across Europe, Ayla and Jondalar arrive at the site of the Ninth Cave, a Stone Age settlement in what would later be called Périgord. There, Jondalar is reunited with his birthplace, who rejoice in his return.
Ayla's reception is more mixed. This woman speaks with a curious accent and, above all, she is followed by a wolf and two horses over whom she exercises a disturbing power. But, if the young woman astonishes the Zelandonii, they surprise her just as much by their way of life in their comfortable rock shelters and by the splendor of the paintings with which they adorn their caves. Plunged into this foreign universe, will Ayla succeed in gaining the trust of the members of the Jondalar tribe?
