Summary :

One is the great explorer Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859). He leaves bourgeois life, makes his way through the rainforest, encounters sea monsters and cannibals, sails the Orinoco, tastes poisons, crawls through underground cavities, climbs volcanoes, and he doesn't like women. The other is Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777-1855), "Prince of Mathematics" and astronomer. He jumps from his wedding bed to write down a formula, studies probability, discovers the famous bell-shaped distribution curve that bears his name, and he hates traveling.
