Summary :
Louis is 12 years old. This morning, as he tries to tell his mother, Thelma, that he's in love for the first time, he sees that she's thinking about something else, probably about her work. So he leaves, angry and disappointed, with his skateboard, and races across the street. A truck hits him head-on.
The prognosis is grim. In four weeks, if there is no improvement, Louis's ventilator will have to be disconnected. Coming home from the hospital, desperate, Thelma finds a notebook under her son's mattress. Inside, he has listed all his "wonders"—the experiences he would like to have in his lifetime.
Thelma makes a decision: page after page, she will accomplish these wonders in his place. If Louis hears her adventures, he will see how beautiful life is. Maybe it will help him come back. And if Louis is to die in four weeks, through her he will have lived the life he dreamed of.
But it's not so easy to live out a teenager's dreams when you're almost forty...
