• Summary

This is the story of Thomas, frightened by the chaos of the world, and whom the women he has loved have never managed to calm. One day, quite like all the others, he decides to leave. He then leaves Marie, with whom he lives intermittently. But this time, Thomas wants to try to find meaning in this chaos. To do this, he will need to travel through five countries, the memory of forgotten friends, the evening breeze in his hair, the real or imagined presence of former mistresses, a bartender who translates poetry, a few songs, a fair amount of alcohol, a train named "Franz Kafka," a café in the shadow of two towers, glimpses of ghosts, and dreams of murders, rats, caimans, wolf-men, unmade beds, and a few guardian figures. The polyphonic narrative alternates Thomas's wanderings with his own monologues and chapters in which the women of his past intervene.
