Bernard Giraudeau was born in La Rochelle in 1947. An actor and filmmaker, he directed feature films, The Other and The Caprices of a River, as well as documentaries, including The Transamazonian, Chili Norte, and A Chilean Friend.

He is the author of The Sailor at Anchor, Tales of Humahuaca, Men on Shore and The Rowing Ladies.
